The high cost of childcare boils down to childcare providers wanting to pay their teams as much as they can, because the people who take care of our kids are born with an innate calling to care for other people’s babies. They’re as valued to me as a brain surgeon or a frontline worker. They’re doing such critical work during the first five years of our children’s lives, when 80% of brain development is taking place. The least we can do is put them on the pedestal they deserve. It’s going to be a group effort to be able to start to compensate them in a way they really deserve.”
